Summary for Oxford Shadows:

When death is a new beginning and love an old curse.

Still recovering from her last tango with the afterlife, Louisiana-born Madison LeBon struggles not only with her life as an Oxford postgrad but also with her budding love for Rupert Vance, aristocrat extraordinaire. One thing is certain, though: she won't run away from her powers anymore. From now on she'll face the music …

… literally!

When a sixteenth-century ghost makes an appearance during a classical concert Madison attends and threatens her boyfriend’s family, she sets out to explore the dark mysteries of the Tudors, even if that means confronting their most royal and homicidal character.

Her plans take an unexpected turn when her voodoo heritage catches up with her. With horror, she understands what her fate was always meant to be.

The question now is: Can Rupert be part of it?

A Little Bit More About Marion Croslydon:

In addition to being an author, I work as an entrepreneur, wife and mother-of-one but spend a good deal of time with books, DVDs and listening to my mp3 player; all for the sake of inspiration, of course.

My debut series, The Oxford Trilogy, has been a blast to write because I can indulge in my favorite types of music: Country and English rock.

My main goal as a writer is to make readers dream bigger and cause their hearts to beat a little faster.

Since my writing is all about sharing dreams and stories, I love connecting with fellow readers and authors.

My Thoughts:

First a word of warning, to fully enjoy The Oxford Trilogy by Marion Croslydon you must read all the books in designated order, without skipping or else you are going to miss some important events and character development. So, if you haven't read Oxford Whispers, first book in this series, go and read my review for that book and do not continue reading further, I do not want to spoil that book for you. If you have read Oxford Whispers then continue to read my thoughts about Oxford Shadows, second book in The Oxford Trilogy.

If you liked Oxford Whispers you are going to enjoy Oxford Shadows too. The sequel follows the same, already familiar formula. The flashbacks from the past and present interlapse. While Madison, Rupert and their friends try to solve the puzzle and find out who are the reincarnations of the new ghostly love story. Also all back stories from Oxford Whispers continue to develop and tangle even more: love story between Madison and Rupert, Madison trying to deal with her family voodoo heritage and powers, complex relationship between Rupert and his father's new family... We learn a lot more about their families and a lot of interesting plot twists are revealed. While Oxford Whispers seemed mainly transparent until the big twist at the end, Oxford Shadows is much more intense and I bet you are going to be surprised at least a couple of times.

If you read my review for Oxford Whispers you probably remember that I complained how paranormal elements are not explained enough. Well, in Oxford Shadows we finally have some things revealed. Although I personaly I am not thrilled how things are developing on that fields. Why always our heroine must be The One? Why she can't be just an average girl? Probably because nobody would want to read about her. ;)

As for the romance, Rupert got all beta all of the sudden. He's clumsy and does not know how to interact with flirty women. What getting a girlfriends does to a playboy. No wonder they are all avoiding it. The love story has much more drama, angst and jealousy. Both Rupert and Madison are so full of doubts and fears and I think all would be so much better if they talked to each other and shared them, but as always that does not happen.

All things considered, Oxford Shadows is satisfiying sequel to The Oxford Trilogy who will uncover just enough of new and interesting plot elements to make you hunger for the big finale.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
