Summary:

"No one creates realms like New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop. Now in a thrilling new fantasy series, enter a world inhabited by the Others, unearthly entities—vampires and shape-shifters among them—who rule the Earth and whose prey are humans.

As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut—a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow."

Why Am I Waiting On 'Written in Red' by Anne Bishop?

I adore Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy. It's one of my favorite love stories in fantasy genre. In October, I read her science fiction novella 'A Strand In the Web' in anthology Stranded and it was also innovative and original. So, of course I can't wait to see what will Anne Bishop bring new to urban fantasy genre. Prophet that sees future in her blood and must cut herself to predict? It sounds dark and gritty. I am hoping for another favorite here!

Let's Talk:

Did you read any book written by Anne Bishop? Which one is your favorite? Did you hear about Written in Red before? Will you read it?

What are you waiting for? Feel free to leave links in comments.

    1. I am not thrilled with cover, I think they could have made it more dramatic (because of the tittle). But I think they went for something that would appeal for wider range of readers.

  8. This sounds really good. Not sure if I want to get back into the whole shapeshifter thing though, I feel like its getting played out. However, it sounds brilliant. I might make an exception.

    1. Yes, shape-shifters are one of the most over-used paranormal creatures. I think only vampires are worse. But I have faith in Anne Bishop that she will make this book different and unique.
