Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy...But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I don't know about you, but this happens to me all the time:

I read a new series. I fall in love... I recommend it to all my friends... Can't wait until the next book will be published... Buy it right away and then... Nothing. The book mysteriously stays unread on my shelf. Why? I honestly don't know. I wow that I will read them soon but somehow newer books always attract my attention and these sequels to the series stay neglected and waiting...

And here are links to Goodreads if you want to check them out:

Let's Talk:

Well that's it from me. What are top ten books gathering dust on your shelves? Do we share the same ones?

    1. If you like fairy tale retellings or ya sci-fi Cinder is one of the most original I read. Hope you enjoy it. :)

  3. I so do that, too :) I guess I get distracted by other books, and I keep postponing reading the sequels :) So, a few of these are on my TBR, too, although I did read Scarlet last week, and absolutely loved it :)

    1. I will I will (at least I will try). If nothing else, I am declaring them my summer vacation read so when we hit the sea in July and I make a break from blogging, I will give them a chance.

  6. The Wise Man's Fear is on my list too! I just can't handle how it's going to be AGES before #3 is out. Sigh.

And I need to read Scarlet, though I haven't bought it yet. Lovely list!

    1. Yes, it's one of the reasons that I am postponing reading it, because I will forget half the things when book #3 is published...

  7. Desires of the Dead! I've read that one but I have not read the 3rd book yet. Love the series! I also still need to read Cinder. :( More time in the day is definitely needed. :)

  10. Yay Scarlet. You should read it soon soon soon :D I didn't like Wise Man's Fear, I'm not desperately awaiting The Doors of Stone in that series either. I have the N. K. Jemison books, but haven't read them. They have awesome covers though.

Very quickly, books I bought and haven't read yet (there's about 160 unread books on my shelves acc to GR, so I'll only do 10)

    1. Slated (Slated #1) by Terry Teri
    2. City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare
    3. Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake
    4. Green Rider (Green Rider #1) by Kristen Britain
    5. Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire #1) by Mark Lawrence
    6. Spellbound (Spellbound #1) by Cara Lynn Shultz
    7. Among Thieves (Tales of the Kin #1) by Douglas Hulick
    8. Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles #1) by Jessica Spotswood
    9. Traitor's Gate (The Crossroads Saga #3) by Kate Elliott
    10. Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters #1) by Jessica Shirvington

    1. Yes I know I should read Scarlet soon... I will try to squeeze it in soon. Scouts honor. :D
I was not crazy about 'The Name of the Wind' too, that's one of the reasons why I am not rushing to read the sequel...
I've got Prince of Thorns, Anna Dressed in Blood, Green Rider, Among Thieves waiting for me too. And the rest are of course on my tbr. xD Except for Mortal Instruments, where I am waaaay behind you. :)

  11. Nah..Scarlet isn't really sooo god and it was more like an introduction to the series then a whole story,so you will be annoyed w8ing for the sequels even more.., The Wise Man's Fear is way better- you should read it before anything else from your list...and i enjoyed Darynda Jones serial much more then Scarlet..she made me laugh:)
But i do understand your newly found sickness for shiny new books..i think i got it too :P I don't even mind anymore that i have to w8 for the next part who knows how long...as long as it's blinding my eyes with its new cover xD

    1. I plan to read 'Scarlet' and 'The Wise Man's Fear' this year. Probably 'Scarlet' first since it has less page count. I will give 'The Wise Man's Fear' altough I am not sure I will like it. 'The Name of The Wind' was not big favorite of mine, although I know you liked it.
I am waiting with Darynda Jones until I buy decaf coffee, or else I am going to die from coffeine overdose - she turns be into coffee-drinking monster. :D
I don't know I was obssesed to read all the book in the series and waiting like you too at first, but lately if I read too many books by the same author one after each other I start rating them lower - like I get an overdose or something. I like more to mix it up. :) And there are so many books to read, that the sequel is here in no time. :D
